Craigie and Moncreiffe Youth Club and Drop In’

 

Young people from the ‘Craigie and Moncreiffe Youth Club and Drop In’ were recently short listed for both the PKVAS Volunteers Awards and the Spirit of Youth Awards.  This was for work the group had done organising sports competitions in their local areas.  Well done to all of those involved.

 

 

 

 

Local Lads v's Local Staff Football event:

 

 

Young lads from the Craigie / Moncreiffe area got the chance to take on local staff/service providers to a game of 5 a side football.The hour long game ended up in an 11-10 victory to the older players!

Great feedback was received from both staff and young people.Many of the young lads are looking for a rematch!

 

Staff included: Willie Oliphant (MoncreiffePrimary School), Fergus Cook (Greenspace Ranger), Alisdair Alexander (Community Volunteer Centre, PKVAS), Ross Porter (Dundee University student) and Gary Brown (Youth Services).

 

Local lads included: Aidan Palmer, Robert Hay, Mark Law, Lee Robertson, Ross Cunningham and Grant Harrison. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

South Perth Youth Services update

 

I Spy Joy Photography Project: many local young people have had their photography used in the international ‘I SPY JOY Photography Project.  Along with peers from Portland, Oregon, USA, young people have had their images displayed in Pullar House, schools and campuses through out Perth and Kinross, Youth Services City Base and on the Perth and Kinross Council website – please find under the Education and Learning section.

 

South Perth Community Football: young people from the Craigie and Moncreiffe Youth Group and Drop In have organised football sessions for local young people (12+) and local workers.  These will happen every second Monday of the month at Glenearn Community Campus.  Contact Gary Brown for more info.

 

Partnership Fun Day: local young people got involved in the local fun day recently.  Local band ‘Whigs and Rakes’ played an acoustic set and local lad Lee Robertson organised a ‘Beat the Goalie’ competition.

 

Photography:  a few local young people have had their photographs used by the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Partnership who are fund raising for Andrew’s Book, see http://www.learningcurve-perth.co.uk/ for more info. The photographs have been used to sell as prints, coasters and mouse mats.

 

Craigie / Moncreiffe Youth Group and Drop In:  the group who meet weekly are often found cooking on a Tuesday night.  Some of the group are also planning to go on a residential with other young people from the Errol Youth Crew and Scone Youth Crew to discuss working together on a project.

SLS Baton Twirlers

SLS Baton Twirlers meet on a Tuesday nights from 6pm at North Inch Community Campus.  Twirly Tots (up to 4 yrs) 6-6.30pm.  Beginners 4yrs upwards 6-7pm and the main class (up to 18) is 6-8pm.  New members are always welcome.  The team is also available to perform at fetes and galas.  For further information text 07773608155 or email perthshiretwirling@hotmail.co.uk

 

Darnhall Tennis Club

Darnhall Tennis Club has adult coaching starting on Thursday 21 July at 7pm. The cost is £5 per person and is "pay as you go". It is intended to run over 8 weeks and will be run by Olivia Paisley. ALL abilities are welcome with a guarantee that everyone will enjoy the game more with a little knowledge in how to hit the ball in the right direction!
